Mining & Staking: Securing the Network
Mining (PoW) requires hardware and electricity to produce blocks; mining revenue depends on rewards, fees, efficiency, and electricity costs. Staking (PoS) requires locking tokens and running validator software; correct operation earns rewards, while misbehavior can be slashed.
Staking through custodial providers is simpler but introduces counterparty risk. Understand who holds keys and what guarantees (if any) are provided before staking significant amounts.
